Phuket - the Thailand’s biggest island at 550sq km is located on the side of the Andaman Sea at the west coast of Southern, Phuket Island is approximately 890km from Bangkok.
Phuket is around with many smaller islands that add a further 70 sq km to its total land area. Phuket is linked from the mainland by the Sarasin Bridge at its northernmost point, connects the island to the mainland.
The west coast is the most beautiful beaches in Phuket, no any rocky coves and headlands. Also, the east coast is with few sandy beaches with the shoals. All beautiful coral area is under the clear azure sea around the island.
The residents of Phuket comprise Thais who have moved from the mainland such as Chinese, Malaysia, Chao Lay and etc. who are the original inhabitants of Phuket.
Phuket Island has Thai-Buddhists account for 71% of the population, with Malays (24%) and Chaob Leh (4%).
By Air
Phuket is an island, getting here is very straightforward by Phuket International Airport (HKT). However, you can also get to Phuket by road, and by boat.
To be known that Phuket island is served by an international airport with a number of scheduled and charter flights from Europe and Asia.
However, the most of visitors still fly to Bangkok first, and then, they get the domestic flights to Phuket daily. With the growth in budget airlines such as Nok Air, Air Asia, Bangkok Airways and Orient Thai (One2Go) ,especially Thai Airways. The ticket prices are now very low but they have the good of service though.
Flights from Bangkok take about 1 hour and 15 minutes. On the high season from
Novenber to April, you should book your tickets in the early time.
Phuket International Airport is situated at the northern of the island about 40 minutes driving from Phuket Center Area.
By Road
It’s about 867km (539 miles) from Bangkok to Phuket, with an approximately 10 hours of travelling time. There are many car rental companies in Bangkok, such as Avis , Budget or other local companies.
From Bangkok, passing through Samut Sakorn, Samut Songkram, Phetchaburi, Prachuapkhirikan, Chumphon, Krabi, Phang Nga. But if you should to come by the highway between Ranong and Phang Nga down to Phuket is quite fantastic with all the mountains on one side and the Andaman sea on the other.
On the Island
The best transport as you can choose to be around in Phuket is the self-drive air-conditioned vehicle (car or 4 wheel drive jeep); the motorbikes you can hire but to be cautious of traffic hazards, you should probably wear a crash helmet. Then , you can be the freedom to pioneer the island.
Beaches , Sports and Activities
There are many beaches of Phuket. The most popular beaches are Patong, Kata and Karon, and nearly all beaches along the west coasts are often by locals and tourists, with the west coasts’s northern beach remaining very quiet and unspoilt part.
If you would like to be more than soaking up with a tropical sun tan, there are amenities for water sports to offer you to explode, such as sailing, windsurfing, kayaking diving and snorkeling. And also, the coastal waters are exciting to explore and especially to view all the colored fish and exotic coral formations as the marine life as offering you the excellent conditions for driving and snorkeling, you can make the trip to Phang Nga Bay , Phi Phi Island and Krabi. Or you can make the trip to The National Park of Similan Islands as 140 Sq. Km. in total for full adventurous day. Similan Island has both in fish and corals. The best visibility you can find in Thailand and there are many plenty of colorful fish such as lionfish and clownfish (Nemo) and etc. and if you can spot the bigger fish such as manta or whale shark, that means you are the lucky one.
Elephant riding is an interesting activity as you can choose to support the remaining domesticated elephants of Thailand is quite cheap, and can be your new experience. The elephants are good by trained.

Climate
Phuket is a province as you can be visited all year round. This is of course largely due to the tropical weather and climate. There are two seasons here in Phuket,
the 'dry' season is from November to April as temperatures average 30 degrees year round. The 'green' season is from May to October as temperatures are around the 25 to 30 degree mark.
